This is a good book to start the year and kids were interested because of the author。 I read it to my class in the 2nd half of the year and while still relevant, it would be better to set the tone with in Sept。

This book is written by LeBron James, and is said to be for kids ages 4-8。 The illustrator used Adobe Photoshop to create the illustrations, which are beautiful。 “I promise to work hard and do what’s right, to be a leader in this game of life” is the first page of the book。 I like the flow of the words in the book, as well as the inclusivity of having children of different backgrounds all throughout the book。 Kids who like “games” will like the references to games (like basketball games) through This book is written by LeBron James, and is said to be for kids ages 4-8。 The illustrator used Adobe Photoshop to create the illustrations, which are beautiful。 “I promise to work hard and do what’s right, to be a leader in this game of life” is the first page of the book。 I like the flow of the words in the book, as well as the inclusivity of having children of different backgrounds all throughout the book。 Kids who like “games” will like the references to games (like basketball games) throughout the book。 The words flow in a rhythmic pattern。 LeBron did a great job on the words in this book, and the illustrator complemented his words perfectly。 This book is all about not giving up! I would definitely have this in my classroom of kids up to 8。 。。。more

This book is full of just what the title says, promises to do positive things。 Something jumped out at me though, and that is that everything is earned。 I disagree。 It is good to be directed and work toward excellence, but we do not have to earn the right to be treated with respect or to earn value as human beings。 That is a performance based view。

I really like this book! It was written by famous basketball player LaBron James。 This book worked to teach kids to promise to follow through school, to always follow there dreams。 That not dream is to big, to reach for the stars and never give up。

Rating this a 2/5, or 40%, because that's the same rate of success as LeBron James in the NBA Finals。 Just like LeBron's promise to bring "Not one, not two。。。not seven" championships to Miami, this self-proclaimed King once again fails to deliver in the clutch。 Unable to accomplish anything meaningful without joining a superteam, LeBron relies on perennial All-Star illustrator Nina Mata and his own mother Gloria James to voice the audiobook。 Finally, by depicting such a racially diverse cast of Rating this a 2/5, or 40%, because that's the same rate of success as LeBron James in the NBA Finals。 Just like LeBron's promise to bring "Not one, not two。。。not seven" championships to Miami, this self-proclaimed King once again fails to deliver in the clutch。 Unable to accomplish anything meaningful without joining a superteam, LeBron relies on perennial All-Star illustrator Nina Mata and his own mother Gloria James to voice the audiobook。 Finally, by depicting such a racially diverse cast of characters and promoting the message that anybody can accomplish anything no matter where they start, LeBron fails to capitalize on a simple but critical fact that the GOAT Michael Jordan would never overlook- Republicans buy books too。For real though, it caused me great pain to give this 2/5 for the sake of a joke and I already regret it。 The message is nice and the pictures are pretty and it looks great on a bookshelf。 Had this pre-ordered a year before it came out because I'll buy anything he makes and some of the proceeds go towards the school he opened。 。。。more

I Promise by Lebron James is a sweet children’s picture book inspired by the principles of being the best version of yourself。 This is someone who is a good person, who works hard, is supportive others, & practices the qualities of being a good student, leader & community citizen。 This book has the same name of the school he funded in his hometown of Akron, Ohio。 #mcdreads

In this rhyming book written by Lebron James, children make promises to do great things, be themselves, clean up, and just be super great kids。 It is an inspiring children's poem, broken into illustrated pages, about letting children learn to be themselves。 In this rhyming book written by Lebron James, children make promises to do great things, be themselves, clean up, and just be super great kids。 It is an inspiring children's poem, broken into illustrated pages, about letting children learn to be themselves。 。。。more

Pleasant text with lovely, bright illustrations。 A lot of the promises are sports metaphors。The back matter includes the list of Promises that students at James's school make at the beginning of the year, and apparently recite every morning as well, to work hard and finish school。 I don't love the inclusion of "To live a healthy life by eating right and being active。" Firstly, not all kids will be able to lead "a healthy life"; many are born with health conditions or develop them。 Secondly, I'm Pleasant text with lovely, bright illustrations。 A lot of the promises are sports metaphors。The back matter includes the list of Promises that students at James's school make at the beginning of the year, and apparently recite every morning as well, to work hard and finish school。 I don't love the inclusion of "To live a healthy life by eating right and being active。" Firstly, not all kids will be able to lead "a healthy life"; many are born with health conditions or develop them。 Secondly, I'm not a fan of the wording "eat right"。。。 is there a way to "eat wrong"? "I Promise" is a children's picture book written under the genre of poetry and is recommended for children from preschool through grade three。 This book beautifully illustrates the importance of integrity。 The affirmations included in the poem are all about making promises to yourself and keeping them。 I loved that the book encompasses so much about intrinsic motivation but makes it easy to understand and connect with。 I would want to use this book for upper-elementary grades as well because old "I Promise" is a children's picture book written under the genre of poetry and is recommended for children from preschool through grade three。 This book beautifully illustrates the importance of integrity。 The affirmations included in the poem are all about making promises to yourself and keeping them。 I loved that the book encompasses so much about intrinsic motivation but makes it easy to understand and connect with。 I would want to use this book for upper-elementary grades as well because older students are able to look at the components of integrity as a more complex and less concrete idea。 One way that I could use this in my future classroom is to make it a part of our morning routine。 I could read the book aloud at the beginning of the week and we could use the premise of integrity and motivation to have a classroom discussion about promises we make to ourselves and to others。 Another way that I could use this book in my classroom would be to use it as part of an EL lesson on illustration supporting text。 Students could design their own picture book to go along with a poem they write。 I include this book in my WOW bookshelf because I love the message this book has for all children of various backgrounds and SES。 I think it is so important for children to have access to media where they are represented and celebrated。 I think this book is beautifully illustrated to encompass diverse children in diverse situations and that it has a hopeful and inspiring message。 Overall Rating: 5/5 。。。more

Promises to oneself in times that are good and in times that are hard。 I love that LeBron spoke of promising to ask for help when it's needed and about staying humble and strong in times of victory and defeat。 The promises made covered many aspects of life, and at the end of the book, it discusses how in the school he started, each child makes promises to themselves as a way to achieve their goals and dreams。 The illustrations were so cheery, colorful, and playful。 Promises to oneself in times that are good and in times that are hard。 I love that LeBron spoke of promising to ask for help when it's needed and about staying humble and strong in times of victory and defeat。 The promises made covered many aspects of life, and at the end of the book, it discusses how in the school he started, each child makes promises to themselves as a way to achieve their goals and dreams。 The illustrations were so cheery, colorful, and playful。 。。。more
